We offer over 30 career programs every academic year. These programs help build skills and knowledge to prepare students and alumni for the professional world. Topics include resume building, portfolio development, interview strategies, networking, freelancing, and much more! Additionally, we also put on multiple recruiting events each year that connect students with employers and professionals. U.S. VISA OPTIONS FOR ARTISTS & PROFESSIONALS 

Thursday, October 9, 2025 / Live Virtual Event / 7:00 PM ET

Gain information and guidance on which visas might be available to F-1 visa holders after OPT. Immigration attorney, Eileen Morrison, will present visa eligibility details for visas such as the H-1B, O1, EB2, TN and more. Please be sure to join us for this informative session and bring any questions that you have related to what you hope to do after graduation. This program is offered by ISSA and they will also hold separate sessions specifically on OPT and the application process. This session is open to all U.S. visa holders.

ART OF BUSINESS - CARVING OUT AN AUTHENTIC CREATIVE BUSINESS

Muralist, illustrator, brand designer, and organizer Amanda 陳 Beard Garcia will share her journey of unexpected avenues towards running a creative business. From graduation, to day jobs, to freelancing, finding community, successes, challenges, and everything in between, Amanda will speak on the joy of venturing into a unique, rewarding, and ever-shifting career.

Amanda 陳 Beard Garcia (IL ’12) is co-founder and principal of Likemind Design in Lowell, MA, a custom mural and design studio with a mission to elevate the brands of independently-owned businesses “just like us.” She has been a participant of many local public art initiatives and has designed custom artwork and brand identities for businesses all over Greater Boston and beyond. Amanda has been a visiting artist and educator at Essex Art Center, Punto Urban Art Museum, Pao Arts Center, Montserrat College of Art, and Endicott College. In 2024, she was a National Civic Impact Fellowship & Incubator fellow and grant recipient of Asian American Women’s Political Initiative (AAWPI). Her fellowship project, Lucky Knot Arts, centers AANHPIs through creative arts programming on the North Shore of Massachusetts and has since become an ongoing nonprofit.

Please join us for a presentation by Ariel Goldberg (Director, Talent Acquisition) and Christina Dunlop (Manager, Talent Acquisition) from the team at Skydance Animation to learn about the studio story, mission, and opportunities! This is an in-person event (not recorded) with time for your questions too.

Since its founding, Skydance Animation has released feature films LUCK and SPELLBOUND, the TV series WONDLA, and a number of short films. SPELLBOUND was the first of our projects to stream on Netflix, with whom Skydance Animation entered into a long-term partnership in October 2023. In 2026, Netflix will air our newest upcoming feature, which is being directed by Nathan Greno (co-director, TANGLED).

Receive $5,000 for your summer internship and be part of RISD's prestigious Maharam Fellowship! Learn everything you need to know to make a strong and compelling application. This award has been opening new avenues for RISD talent in organizations where artists and designers are not typically found or where artists/designers can contribute to the mission of the organization in a meaningful way. Maharam is committed to making the art and design world more fair, diverse, and creative. The Fellowship will support internship work that aspires to advance social progress or safeguard the environment or even combine both of these important issues. ART OF BUSINESS - THE ART OF STORY AS A CREATIVE BUSINESS TOOL

This workshop will unpack story as a mission-critical business skill for creatives in 2025; discuss the practical applications of story and narrative for building a successful creative business; and equip participants with a starter pack of perspectives and exercises you can apply immediately to get your story working for you.

Jessica Mastors is a Rhode Island native and the Founder & CEO of Story Magic, a boutique narrative consultancy that partners with universities, organizations, startups, executives and thought leaders to excavate the true stories – and build the narrative skills – that move decision-makers to say YES.

Jessica’s unique story-driven approach has evolved over more than a decade of private practice supporting diverse clients in the US and abroad, including SoGal Ventures, Hum Capital, Airbnb, the International Rescue Committee, the Aga Khan Development Network, the Boys & Girls Club, Draper University of Heroes, Northwestern Kellogg School of Business, and INSEAD Business School for the World.
