RISD Trek NYC is designed to provide students with an opportunity to see firsthand the professional fine arts world and the creative culture in New York City.

Overview

Participants in RISD Trek New York City will explore the fine arts world through engagement with artist studios, galleries, community arts non-profits, artist residency programs, arts incubators, and museums. Students will gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to be a new fine arts graduate and discover ways to establish a professional career path that is supported through this interdisciplinary ecosystem. Students will also learn how to develop their professional network through on-site visits, presentations by arts professionals, alumni panels and studio visits.

Trek New York City is scheduled for Sunday, August 18 through Friday, August 23, 2024. To participate, students must be returning to RISD for the Fall 2024 semester. All expenses for the trip arranged by RISD will be covered for participants including: roundtrip train travel from Providence to New York City, hotel accommodations, travel to and from Trek New York City sites, and daily meals.

RISD Trek New York is a collaboration between the RISD Alumni Association, Institutional Advancement, and the Career Center, as well as various regional Alumni Clubs and Affinity Groups.
